Gore-tex?

I am looking at either Gore-tex XCR or Paclite, wondering if there is any advantage/disadvantage to one ot the other. I know paclite lives up to it's name and pacs smaller, but does it keep you as dry? Last as long?

For what purpose? Shell, rain pants, shoes, etc?

I have some Gore-Tex XCR jackets and I love them, but they are heavier compared to the Paclite. I just picked up a Paclite shell, but haven't used it yet.
