Curious... Sign on the summit of North Crocker reads 4,168'. My altimeter read 4,160' the other day. I've seen a number of sources, including AMC 4000er Club, list the elevation as 4228'. 4,168' or 4228'? Which is it? Any ideas why the discrepancy?

As of yesterday, I can report that Caribou Valley Road all the way to the AT crossing is completely clear, very easily navigated and totally passable...for running or walking . :D Seriously though, you won't make it past the metal bridge without a Jeep, Xterra (which did so yesterday) or other...
