    Skiing the Equinox Road

You can ski it. The sleds blaze up and down it all winter.(keep an ear out for them) It seems steep, but it's really not that steep for skis. There are numerous better spots to ski off EQX than the access road.

    Dorset Ridge Trail

Howdy, I picked up the new edition of the Dayhikers guide to VT and it talks about the Dorset Ridge Trail. Has anyone done this? It says that it's poorly marked and does not give a distance. I plan on exploring in the hopes of trail running on it, it sounds really cool. I was on Green Peak...

    Spot Device

Wow, I had no idea that Mr. Wejebe had passed away. I was(am) a huge fan I used to watch him all the time when I lived in FL. Very sad to hear. As for the SPOT, I carry one with me backcountry skiing and trailrunning. The signal seems to be great. Doing a lot of things solo it's a little...

    Lincoln Gap North

Howdy folks, I was just wondering if anyone knows if the trail from Lincoln Gap North is snowy or if it is relatively dry. The weather looks good for the upcoming week and I'm kicking around the idea of running out to Lincoln Peak and back. Is the road up to the trail head still open or is it...

Bears, Dogs & Guns at West Hartford, CT location popular with runners and hikers

About two years ago my dog and I were running up an old logging road on a local mountain here in SoVT. I keep him on a lead when we run and he loves it. We were downwind and the whole time I could tell by the way he was acting there was something around. I was thinking a deer or two was going to...

Things to do around Arlington, VT

Bromley is nice 3 miler each way not too crazy. Myrick Mountain in Dorset is one of my favorites. It's not too crazy but it is longer and there are a lot of spur trails. But if you just keep heading South you should be fine. Both can be done in sneakers. The trails might be a little soggy...

    IP road(catamount trail)-LT at Stratton.

Yesterday we left a truck at the resort of Stratton and headed out to our starting point at Kendall Farm Road. The conditions were really good! Nice base with 3-4" of dust on top. We skinned the IP road and hooked up with the LT and skinned up, the condtions near the top were a little icy. At...

    Mount Equinox via Blue Trail.

With the lack of snow in the area we set out for a nice afternoon hike on EQX. The conditions at the bottom were loose to packed rocks with a fresh coating of leaves. Just below the spring (right hand turn) it started to get ICY!! We had a go at it for about ten more minutes then decided to...

    Southern VT outdoor enhusiasts!!

Howdy folks! Just wondering if there are any folks out there in the Manch area looking to get out and explore this winter. I just started telemarking 2 years ago so I still suck but love skiing uphill. Looking for some long day trips or overnights(depending on what my wife says). Willing to...

    Vermont Open

Kelley Stand is in really bad shape, my Father in law took a walk up there last week from the Arlington side. I think you can only make it to the second bridge which is way before Stratton Pond trailhead. I hope to take a run up that way this week and will let you know for sure. Not sure about...

Hi, Were looking into doing the five Vermont four thousand footers in one day in the near future. I haven't really found any information out there on the web about this adventure. Does anyone have any suggestions about routes?? Time? We're planning on doing Killington first. Then Ellen and...

    I Love Vermont!

Not sure about the Long Trail brews, but the Rattlesnake Cafe in Bennington has some nice beers on tap from Victory, and Sierra. They may even have L.T. on tap. You might want to stop by the Bennington Beverage Outlet as well, he's filling growlers. The selection changes quite a bit.

Good idea on Woodford. Last year there was nothing in Bennington and pouring rain. Up on Woodford there was about a foot and dumping snow!!!
