Wow, I did that trek in the 90's, the road will not make for a better experience for the tourists. I hope at least it will make life easier for the people who live up there, but I have my doubts.

What's the ratio of trails being turned into roads vs roads being turned into trails worldwide? 500 to 1? so sad....

Uggg...what the frak? Did the King Mahendra's Trust for the Annapurna Conservation Area Project run dry? This sucks! Sounds like an underhanded plan to provide access mine the crap out of Nepal and Tibet, if you ask me.

Annapurna Sanctuary April 2001, Annapurna Circuit Nov 2001...two of the best hikes I've ever taken.

Now, fixing the road to Pokhara...that's something I could get behind.
