On Saturday, Dizzy, Caldwell, and I climbed these two peaks via the ski trails to the ridge. We spotted a car at the Mt Ellen parking lot, and drove to the Lincoln peak area.
Going up, we stuck to the trail all the way to the left, stopping in at the lodge half way up which we reached in about an hour. From there we continued to the observation tower on Lincoln Peak. Then we started breaking trail. We got to Abraham without much trouble and celebrated breifly by #65 towards my Winter 67. Then, it was off to hit Ellen for Dizzy's regular 67.
On the ridge, we found a few postholes and were breaking trail almost the whole way to the ski lift beyond Ellen, only finding a little bit of ski track. The temp was 0, but we were kept plenty warm by our hard work. We actually didn't realize we had hit Ellen until we had passed it over. We were looking for the sign, but never saw it.
Coming down was much easier and although ski patol spoke to us, they were very friendly and didn't hassle us at all. We got some great views and had a great day out, definitely earning the peaks we hit.
