I had hiked Ampersand in the winter. while it may be a low peak, there is a wet area where a huge block of ice forms. It can be rather treacherous in the winter if one is not properly equipped. I find that a good pair of snowshoes with good, eighth-inch thick aluminum crampons will get one up and over most Adirondack icy spots.
