Date of Hike: Sunday 2/20/2011
Trail Conditions: Mostly packed out - a few drifts here and there from snow blown across open forest. Afew downed trees, but all can either be walked around or under.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes & poles. Don't advise barebooting, although one might be tempted to do so. You'll eventually posthole and that's bad for you and for the trail!
Comments: A great day in the mountains. Started out cloudy, overcast, windy. By mid-day it was sunny and still abit windy, but starkly beautiful and enchanting. We decided after hiking up Avalon and Field to skip Wiley -- no regrets! So can't say much of anything about the Wiley Range Trail beyond Mt Field's summit - except that it appeared to be lightly used.
