Everything I have seen is use in the context of brisk walking on a smooth surface... It would probably damage balance on any halfway rough trail. The
mechanism isn't light either.

A Better Alternative

Did you see the link below the one on the pack? The generator weighs 6 lbs, but I usually can find a supply of pee on the trail! Plus, no one will try to borrow my extra battery.

This looks like it is a better source of PR than power. It looked to me like any salty fluid would do the job. Pee just attracts more attention.
