Date of Hike: 2/5/2011
Trail Conditions: Moderately deep powder base to summit.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes!
Comments: It appeared that nobody had been here since at least the previous snow storm, perhaps the previous several. Parking was tricky, but we managed to find a spot alongside the road perhaps a quarter mile before the parking area, which is now accessible only to snowmobiles and foot traffic.
With 30" Atlas snowshoes on, penetration varied in depth from 6" to over a foot, especially on the steeper parts. The trail was very hard to follow and we spent a lot of time trying to figure out which way it went. Mostly by luck I think, we managed to more or less follow the official to the top of both summits.
I fear all of our trail breaking work was erased within a couple hours after we left, as the area got another 8-10 overnight on Sat into Sunday.
