The trail was in real good condition with about 2-4" of corn snow on top of a real nice hard base. The trail is kinda closed in due to the deep base which made the higher elevations a bit anoying getting smacked in the face by all the branches. When we reached the jct with the Range Trail the snow got deeper due to wind blown conditions.
No special equipment needed going up any sections. Crampons could have been used but we had no problems at all with MSR snowshoes. They were perfect getting up the steep section of Shorey Short Cut and the ledges before the summit.
Windy and real cold at the summit. I could only stay on the top for a minute or less. The trip down went real fast but we still got caught in the dark about 2 miles from camp and had to break out the lamps. Took us about 3 hours to get to Camp Peggy O to join our friends for some good wine and some nice steaks.
