Bondcliff, Bond, West Bond from Lincoln Woods. 2016-02-15
Date of Hike: 2016-02-15
Recommended: Light traction. Snowshoes for the high wooded elevations were useful.
Lincoln Woods is extremely well-packed.
Bondcliff Trail is packed. I bare-booted til I hit the steeper section coming away from Black Brook. Snow was loose above there, but still no need for snowshoes.
Bondcliff summit and ridge was icy, but not dangerous. I found spikes to be adequate there and on the ridge up to Bond. That may change after today’s rain.
Wind-drifted snow approaching Bond and between Bond and West Bond. I switched to snowshoes which I much preferred.
Water crossings were easy, but I looked where I stepped.
Only saw three other people the entire day, all on the West Bond spur. They were all wearing spikes, so it was doable w/o snowshoes.
