Trail Conditions: The trail had between two and four inches of snow cover, pretty consistently from the trail head and just below the summit. Streams are still flowing at almost all elevations, so obtaining water did not require a stove. At the moderate to higher elevations, there was a layer of ice under the snow. Generally, the summit area had less snow and almost no ice.
Special Equipment Required: Microspikes or other similar traction devices were very helpful, but not required. Particularly on the descent, microspikes were useful, along with trekking poles.
Comments: My battery pack for my camera lost power from the cold just after I let the summit. I guess winter really is almost here in Vermont.
