Date: 11/6/2010
Trails: 19 Mile Brook, Carter Moriah, Carter Dome, 19 Mile Brook (loop - counter clockwise)
Trail Conditions: Trails wet below 2,800-3000'. Snow and a little ice after that, the exception being first 0.3 mi of Carter Dome Trail rising from Carter Notch (bare and dry). Snow was never more than about 3" deep. Big mudhole on Carter Dome Trail between Carter Dome and Mt Height had been iced over but ice broken by numerous boots.
Equipment: We brought stabilicers but barebooted. Others bareboooted or used stabilicers or microspikes. Poles very helpful in the snow and wet sections and descending Mt. Height.
Comments: Cool and windy - summits in and out of the clouds. As luck would have it it was clear when we were on Carter Dome (wooded) and socked in when we got to Mt. Height (open). Still a great time out for us and everyone else. Birthday hike for Abby (1) and me.
