Sophie, Luc, Art, Fred and I met at the Cedar Run for breakfast on Saturday morning. We had great plans to hike Colden together. We waited patiently for our friend, ”Party Girl” to show up, but she never did. We were quite disappointed.
So we decided to save the Colden hike for another day with “Party Girl”. We agreed to hike Cascade and Porter instead. Fred needed them for his ADK 46 list anyways.
The trail was pretty icy so we wore our crampons most of the day.
The trees were covered in snow, so beautiful. We had just a bit of a view of the surrounding area since it was a little cloudy.
The summit of Cascade was windy and cold; we took a few pictures and headed on to Porter. From Porter, Luc and Art decided to go on to Blueberry and down to the Marcy airfield parking where we had left a car. Sophie, Fred and I headed back to our car. We met a group of about 5 teens who looked a little out of breath but happy! We had also met a couple from Quebec on Cascade, not many people for such a popular hike!
All in all it was a relaxing day to be out and enjoy the beauty and fresh air of the Adirondacks. Cascade and Porter are always good. And no matter how may times you hike up a mountain it is never the same from one trip to another.
We were at the Ark Trail and Fred played a new song he wrote, the woman at the motel was impressed at how good it was. Maybe we could convince Fred to play some of his own music at a VFTT gathering!!!
So all in all, another fantastik day of hiking with great friends! Thanks to you all!
