Beware of the Lumberzac
I took a short jaunt up Chimney Mountain on Saturday with Sherpaman. I’m not going to write a formal trip report because it was such a short hike, plus I’m lazy.
Here are some quick notes:
1) The parking area isn’t plowed. We paid out $2 and parked near the stop sign.
2) The weather was close to perfect.
3) The trail up was only broken out half way up and we had to break trail up the steepest part to the chimney. Anyone that goes before the next snowstorm should have a nice broken path to follow.
4) The snow is consolidating and we were only sinking into the snow about 18” with snowshoes on the steep sections and about 6” to 12” on the flats.
5) We saw a group of 4 heading into the pond as we left. They were all equipped with full overnight winter gear except no snowshoes. I can only assume they didn’t make it too far.
6) This is an area I defiantly need to check out again
Here’s some pictures, enjoy.
