Trail conditions: Brook Trail in really good shape -- no snow (except for a few patchy spots) until the junction with the Bee Line Trail. After that snow, was pretty packed or already postholed so it presented no difficulties. Slabs were fine to ascend. One challenging pine tree blowdown -- will probably be easier to get around once all the snow is gone. Liberty Trail was very wet and muddy -- also had a lot more rotten snow -- snowline extended from Liberty Cabin to just past the Hammond Trail. For the most part, it was either solid or already postholed as well.
Special Equipment:Sunscreen since the hardwoods don't have leaves yet. These trails are barebootable.
Comments:My first time hiking Chocorua and it didn't disappoint. These trails were terrific and I only saw five other people all day (not counting above treeline... it was busy up top, as you'd expect on such a nice day.) It was really great to have a bug-free and warm spring hike!
