FR55 gate is now open. Drive right to the campsite.
A half mile from the trailhead, the bridge over the creek is broken, with a "keep off" sign. One of the two main beams is splintered in the middle and most of the treadway planking is missing. Wading is difficult here as the creek is really roaring with the rain.
The first half of the 3-mile trail has had recent drainage work, and the trail's in excellent shape. The second half, though, could use brushing out as the spruce are encroaching.
There was snow above 3200', and on the the Long Trail, where it was 2 feet deep or more in places. The little peak of Roosevelt, though, was snow-free.
