Desert Southwest 2014 "Checklist Edition" Report

For those interested, here's the trip report of a late-September (2014) visit to the desert southwest (well, more specifically, Grand Canyon and Zion NPs). I'm calling this one the "checklist edition" because the plan was to cross off a number of outings that we'd been wanting to do over the last few years - including a rim-to-rim backpack traverse of the Grand Canyon and a descent of the Subway in Zion, among other objectives.
