Trails: Greeley Ponds Ski Tr & Mt Osceola Trails
Conditions: Crusted snow over variable lower conditions; deep powder to loose granular to bare ground in the windblown sections. A flash flood had forced us off the Greeley Ponds hiking trail to the ski trail that starts between the Greeley Ponds Tr and the East Pond Tr. The South Fork was not passable early this morning.
Equipment: Snowshoes car to car. Crampons not needed.
Comments: Conditions were better than we had anticipated. The rains and freeze have solidified the snow and there are only short sections where there is a trough. We broke through numerous times but only a handful were deep post holes and those were on the ski trail (apologies to the skiers!). The ramp up the East Peak was its usual heart pounding beautiful self with magnificent views to the East and Northeast.
