All in all, an incredible day to be above tree line. Sunny, warm and very little wind. Edmonds was dry and free of snow to about 3200'. However, the blowdowns are plentiful and large. A lot of trail clearing work is ahead.
Just below the stone gate the snow started in earnest. Snowshoes not needed as the pack is well consolidated and post holling wasn't a problem. Microspikes seemed to be the weapon of choice. The tricky part is the final 1/2 mile to he ridge. The snowpack grows in depth to up to 6' and is a 45 degree slope with a narrow boot track on top, lots of fun.
The ridge is clear of snow except for isolated pockets in the shady areas and in the trees. No biting bugs present.
