We are interested in bagging a 4000 footer. Can anyone direct us to a site that gives the info on camping regulations at this (and any other White Mountain camping in NH). We just got a new PC and don't have all our favorite sites anymore, which included a New Hampshire website to give us the info.

Anyone know what the snow conditions are on top of Willey and Field???? Any sites to give that info??

Thanx in advance.

The backcountry camping rules are here, while a description of Ethan Pond shelter and campsite is here.

Shelter, three single platforms, two double platforms, composting outhouse, dishwashing area, metal food boxes for bear protection.

Bring a water filter or boil. There is no caretaker, and thus no fee, Oct 15-June 1.

Ethan Pond is a beautiful place to stay and not hard to get to. Just park on Rte 302 at the Ethan Pond Trail and head up, claim your platform or shelter space, then head off and enjoy the afternoon. A nice, flat walk talks you to Thoreau Falls. Spend the night then get an early morning start on your summits.

The AMC runs the Ethan Pond site. There are some tent platforms, a food area and some overflow spaces as well.
There are plenty of approaches to the site, most notably the Ethan Pond Trail which is a link in the Appalachian Trail and is therefore in good condition and easy to follow.
If you can, pick up the latest edition of AMC's White Mountain Guide. It is an invaluble resource of info like this.
Here are a few links that could help as well.....
