Peaks: Mts. Field, Willey & Tom
Trails: Avalon, Willey Range, Mt. Tom Spur and A-Z
Conditions: Great. Whoever is maintaining these trails is doing a wonderful job. I saw just one blowdown in about 10 miles (on the Willey Range Trail just north of the summit of Mt. Field), and it was easily stepped over. Stream crossings were easy. Though the day was rainy, mud was almost never a problem. Rain and cool temperatures kept the bugs away.
Special equipment: None needed. My preference is to hike with poles.
