Decided on Tuesday to hike up to Flat Mountain pond to spend the night at the shelter. Trails are in good condition, brook crossings are easy. A nice hike to a beautiful place. The shelter sits just above the brook so you get to fall asleep listening to the best music.
Sat at the pond at sunset and watched two beavers swimming about. One decided to make a pass to see what sort of creature was sitting on the shore line and actually came quite close.
No unwanted visitors during the night except for the mouse that managed to get to my hanging food. He ate my dog's treat but left the rest untouched. Considerate mouse.
Did not see a soul for two days.
Wildlife: 2 salamanders, 1 toad, a hare and two beavers. I was sort of hoping for a moose on the shore.
