Great condtions in the rain and drizzle today.

Breakable crust and wet snow made for a good work out. 6" deep at trail head. 8-10" on ridge with drifts up to knee deep. Solid base 10" down collapses occassionally dumping you knee deep - I still would not of packed snow shoes, however.

Snow bridges on major stream crosings on flume slide trail are marginal - not enough for my 180lb! - some creative crossings (including shuffle along fallen tree) required as the waters were up. Added quite a bit of time to ascent.

The slide was in fine condition - 6-8" firm wet snow on top of solid ice No traction needed on the trails apart from the slide itself which certainly benfited from crampons and axe (although the rocks on the flume peak and ridge and liberty summit required care without traction).
