This was the first time I'd hiked Gale River since the trail was rerouted. I miss the old trail with its wonderful views of the brook.
The trail is covered with leaves the first mile or so. After that it becomes very muddy for at least a mile & a half. It's helpful to have hiking poles to get around the mud.I brought microspikes, anticpating icy conditions but they were not needed.
Overcast most of the day with light sprinkling here & there. Good views from Galehead hut and then on the way to the summit.
