Parked at the Long Path trailhead on Rt. 6, then proceeded east via the PG/R-D/TT/1779/1777 trail. Between Queensboro Lake and the Hell Hole stream crossing where the fireplace is/was, the trail is rather unpleasant... it was entirely dug up and bulldozed to make for a new water system feeding area group camps, and the surface is now rough dirt hardened with something to bind it together... not easy to walk on. There was grass seed on the trail so presumably it'll be better in a year or two. Also it's very close to the highway, of course.
The new fiberglass bridge over the stream was destroyed, I assume by Irene, but it was easy to cross on the rocks.
The view from the top of the torne made it worthwhile, though!
