The 136th Joe English Scouts - chartered through the Baden Powell Service Association (BPSA) will be hosting a workshop at Saunders Pasture in New Boston, NH on June 28th at 1pm on hiking with children. Parents and children will learn strategies in how to stay aware while hiking and how to not get lost. There will also be discussions and exercises in how to get found if one does become lost.

This is the 2nd in our monthly workshop series in outdoor skills which is free and open to the public; everyone is welcome to attend. BPSA includes a strong community service component to the program. Participants in this workshop will also see the Bluebird Boxes that our Scouts built and placed in the pasture earlier this year. They are full of nesting bluebirds!

The 136th Joe English Scouts is a chartered member of the Baden-Powell Service Association which offers a Traditional and Inclusive Scouting program open to everyone, girls and boys, from age 5 to 105. BPSA is a growing organization in the United States and has a several chartered groups in the New England and New York areas. The 136th Joe English Scouts currently have all 3 youth sections active and have a summer full of camping and hiking activities. We participated in this last year (or something like it) with our then 4 year old and found it very worthwhile. The one we went to was done by NH Fish and game. It included search and rescue dogs, a video and the strategies you mentioned. If we were around we'd go again. (We're up in the Whites this weekend.)
