Date of Hike: Saturday 11/7
Trails: Ice Gulch Path to Peboamauk Falls, up Ice Gulch tallus slope. Return via Cook Path, Boothman Spring Cutoff, Road Walk (Randolph Hill Rd) about 6.5 miles in 5 hours.
Trail Conditions: ¼ - ½ inch snow on boulders but no ice yet. Some very wet areas on Cook Path. No difficult blowdowns.
Special Equipment Required: Carried stabilicers but barebooted. Poles helped descending Cook Path.
Comments: Great day! Lots of fun negotiating the ravine/tallus field. Expected the snow and built in extra time which we needed. Snow added to the beauty. Falls are spectacular. Leaves on Cook Path made the descent slow. Saw one person and her St. Bernard returning from the falls. Appeared that two people were ahead of us, based on bootprints in the snow.
This time of year this is a great hike for solitude!
