Had a fine day with a group of 10 on Saturday, 3/7/09. Broke just a couple of inches from Abol CG to base of slide, thanks to Flight and Co. for breaking it in the other direction on the preceding Monday.
There is a lot of snow on the slide - more than I've seen in several previous trips. The cloud ceiling lifted as high as about 4800 feet and with 37 wands and the spotty cairns we made the summit of Baxter Peak around 1pm.
The trip took 15.5 hours this time! Left at 4:45 am from Abol Bridge and returned at 8:15 pm. That's my record for longest Katahdin summit yet...
thanks to all those who made it a fine day!
