Trail Condtions: about six inches of snow and highs in the 30's-they probably have at least a foot of snow now, and it's probably there to stay. I was on a work crew that cleared waterbars all the way to peru peak shelter. We hiked out on a hidden caretaker trail to a VAST trail and then back to FS 53, which is completely trashed from Irene and will be closed until next year at least. The trail itself is fine for what it is-we needed no special equipment, though you might need microspikes now for the steep sections. There was also some mud.
