Mendon Peak

Going to be hitting Mendon/Killington/Pico this weekend and I'm pretty sure my route is going to be logging road to the height of the land, wack south then west to the peak. Back to the logging road, and follow that to the LT/AT, over and out to RT 4.

Anyone have any other suggestions who has been up there recently as far as when to head into the woods from the logging road? Are the cairns that people talk about still there?
