Hey, I just dug my pack out of the basement to start doing practice runs for my winter trips to the Dacks. There's a thin patina of mildew (or is it mold?) on most of the meshy foam pads. I've kept the pack down there for years and never had this problem. I don't think it's a goner, but is there a recommended way of removing the offending lifeform that won't damage the pack? I've read online on how to prevent mildew from forming, but not how to get rid of it.

Any ideas?

If it's immersible, put a cup of bleach to every gallon of water and rinse the pack in the bathtub. If not immersible, spray it lightly with a mix of water and bleach and when it dries, spray it with Lysol.
Third option: Place it in bright sunlight. The sun's rays kill mildew but don't remove the stains. Mildew is not dead if you can still smell it.
