Date of Hike: 4/27/13
Trail: Air Line round trip
Trail Conditions: First lower 1 1/2 miles were dry trail. Next mile was ice on the steep section, then snow with early form of monorail. No snow on trail above tree line.
Special Equipment Required: I used stiff mountaineering boots, and this seemed to help on all of the irregular boulders on the upper part of the trail. Used microspikes going up and down on the ice sections in the woods.
Comments: What a beautiful day. I sat on top for about an hour and only had a little bit of wind. Some snow above tree line in areas that had drifted during the winter. In the woods there is still snow. The steep section of the trail in the woods has cascades of ice. The microspikes worked, but coming down I was also holding on to trees just in case.
