A lovely midweek hike during which we saw not a single soul! Webster-Jackson was obviously quite slushy recently and people snowshoed (and dogs walked) through it, so it now consists of perfectly frozen snowshoe tracks and paw prints! A little rough for the short bit to the Elephant Head cutoff but then not too bad to the trail junction: a combination of flow ice and hard pack. We barebooted to just below Bugle Cliff and then put on full crampons. We could have worn them right from the start but were able to kick steps up until that point and then realized it was stupid and we should just put the damn crampons on!

Above the trail junction on the Jackson Branch, there were still large patches of flowed ice off and on although it was mostly hardpack. Easy going for the most part. Some of the snow bridges aren't too stable yet after the earlier melt and I broke through a little bit. Nothing major, though.

Well defined track up to the summit. Couldn't see a thing and the winds must have been sustained around 40 mph. We did NOT linger!
