Wondering if anyone has done Mt Moosilauke via Beaver Brook lately? Haven't seen any recent trail condition or trip reports...

Crampons + Ice Axe are a must I am sure... but if it's not too deep I'd leave snowshoes behind.

Plan is to start early AM on Sunday for an Easter Hike!

Any feedback is appreciated.

The ridge from the junction with the Ridge trail is notorious for deep, unconsolidated snow. Snowshoes are a must this time of year, I'd leave the axe behind as well.

Thanks both for the feedback. The night / day turned out great, though in the end crampons were all that were needed. Packed out all the way up.

Hit the trail at 2:30am, summited for sunrise and out by 8:00am. :D

Some great photos of sunrise with Franconia in the distance... I'd post one here but can't seem to figure that out yet.

I enjoy the Beaver Brook trail more with snow on it, I actually find it less intimidating......I will take snow/ice over wet rocks any day. BBT is my favorite way up Moosilauke.

I am with you there 100%. The 'warning signs' on the way in had us pausing (at 3am) but it soon became clear that was more about the wet seasons. Winter is the white highway... though it remains a steep one and would be a real workout to break trail in showshoes if it was deep. As it was, crampons made it disappear quickly.

This was our first time up Moosilauke since we started the quest for all 48 4000+ in the winter months and it is a beautiful summit, especially looking towards the Kinsmans and Franconia.
