Mt potash using downes brook trail to mt potash trail. Nice crisp September morning to start out. Hiked with Rhonda. Only 6 cars in lot at 8.45 a.m.. downes brook was easy crossing during this time of year. Nice woods walk through deciduous and mixed softwood forest with hobble underbrush. The trail is open and plenty wide, but you just have too keep your eye out for roots. The trail is well worn and lots of exposed roots. At a normal pace, made summit in 1 hour, 45 minutes. Great views of surrounding peaks including passaconaway just nearby and all the way to mt Washington. Spent about an hour on top just enjoying and having a little lunch. No bugs. Seen 0 people on the way up, 4 people on the summit, and 11 people while coming down. When we got back to trailhead, there were at least 35 cars at lot. 4.4 miles round trip. 1400 ft elevation gain
