Date of Hike: Nov. 2, 2008
Trail Conditions: Trails were in good shape below about 3000 ft. Above that you started to deal with increasing amounts of frozen runoff and snow. Otherwise trails were in good shape and except for the Upper section of the Avalon Trail, it was fairly easy to avoid the ice and slippery sections. The upper part of the Avalon trail it would have been nice to have had the crampons or stabilicers but even so the icy parts were avoidable with a bit of work.
Special Equipment Required: Stabilicers would have been nice in a few spots but for the most part not required. Crampons would have been overkill.
Comments: A bit brisk on the upper sections of the mountains, but it made for spectacular views from the summits and viewpoints.
