N & S Twin, Galehead via N.Twin trail & spur, twinway, frost, gale river tr. 2/11/11
Date of Hike: 2/11/11
Trail Conditions: unpacked powder after the crossing of Little River, only travelled by 3 people today, unconsolidated and drifted up high. Frost and Gale River Trails have seen more recent activity, but still need snowshoes to keep from sinking in.
Plenty of parking at Beaver Brook xc-ski area and at the end of Little River Rd.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes
Comments: Path and trail well packed out until the crossing of Little River, then we were faced with 8+ inches of fluffy unpacked snow and drifts up high. A huge thank you to the man from NY whose tracks we followed and finally met between N and S Twin, you got us there today!! Knee deep drifted snow down to the hut,(that was fun!!) then a well traveled Frost and Gale River trail, though snowshoes still needed. Long but rewarding and beautiful day to be out!
*ski tracks coming down firewarden's
*no recent activity on Garfield ridge
