Nature Conservancy Purchases Follensby Pond

This is a huge, historic acquisition! Follensby Pond was the site of the Philosopher's Camp just prior to the Civil War. I applaud the McCormick family for protecting this historic tract of land that is adjacent to the Raquette River between Long Lake and Tupper. I also off my sincere gratitude to The Nature Conservancy for seeking out beautiful properties such as this.

Note that there is no public access to the property; that will be determined by the Nature Conservancy at a later date. "Five hunting clubs lease exclusive access; any public use now would be trespass."
