We are discussing places to go hiking tomorrow and had a question for those who have hiked this before. We have a 8 month old that goes in a hiking back pack. Is there a lot of steep areas to this hike that going down would be hard with a 20lb baby back pack?? Anyone have any good input??

We are also taking suggestions for baby other baby friendly hikes in the 3-4 \ hour hiking time range

How is the Okemo Hike also?

thanks
melissa :)

If you're starting from the south, that would be more of a workout than you want with the weight.

I'd do it from the north. Not sure what the name of the road is but, I believe its an old farm road.

Have a good day!

Nearby Sheiling forest in Peterboro is a nice, even walk in the woods.

I took both kids up and down North Pack in the kid pack many times, up to age 3. There are two short sections of steep, but you can carefully pick your way around to the sides and avoid the 'really steep' in the middle.

Okemo (Healdville Trail) is 3 miles each way and nothing on it is difficult or tricky at all. It's pretty mellow. The lower part is an old woods road and is pretty smooth.
