A group of hikers followed a hint of a trail to the first junction up from the perimeter road but the path quickly vanished under increasingly deep snow. Higher up the spruce were heavily laden w/ snow which had melted and then hardened such that the trail become a continual obstacle course and our progress was impeded at every step. We reached the pond and ascended the steep ridge toward the junction b/n the Brothers but the tremendous amount of snow on the bent-over spruce wore us down, completely soaked us and turned us around. The snow at 'ground' level was up to the blue blazes. Tough going.
