This Pemi traverse does not involve going over the Bonds. It's a 16.6 mile car spot hike beginning at the Signal Ridge trail and ending at Lincoln Woods.

Trails: Signal Ridge Trail, Carrigan Notch Trail, Wilderness Trail, Cedar Brook Trail, East Side Rd.

Trail Conditions:All trails in excellent shape. We passed the trail crew who clipped away a lot of the brush for most of our route. Their efforts are most appreciated. Along the entire route we only found a few muddy spots and a couple minor blow downs. Most stream crossings are easy, however one crossing we decided to take off our boots and wade across. The cold water felt good after 9+ miles.

Special Equipment Required: Bug spray and lots of it. Bring a bug net too if you have one.

Comments: Last year, the 4 of us did a car-spot Pemi traverse from Zealand Falls to Ethan Pond. Looking to explore more of the wilderness we found this route. It's a long car spot, but worth the effort. Most of the trails are easy straight paths with no views. However, the diversity of the forest and solitude of the woods make the hike worthwhile. Watch out for all the mosquitoes in Carrigan Notch and black flies along the Wilderness trail.

I recently remembered a small detail that should be mentioned. Heading north on the Carrigan Notch trail towards the Shoal Pond trail and away from the former desolation shelter area, the trail takes a left turn about 1/4 mile from the desolation trail intersection. There is an abandonded trail heading straight and if you're not paying attention you'll keep going in the wrong direction. Look for a yellow blaze on the tree to the left to stay on course.
