5/17 Porter and Cascasde 5/18 Noonmark

Took route from Marcy Airfield and that hasn't seen much traffic but its relatively clear and pretty dry. A few areas of running water, which for all I know may always be running water as it did look like a stream. Views on this trail were great! Very minimal snow on ascent in higher reaches and very minimal snow in between mountains. Snow is not a factor on this hike from this side. Alot of elevation gain on this one!

Noonmark is snow free. We climbed the Stimson trail from AMR up and over. Down other side to Old Dix trail which was wet at the junction and down the trail for a few minutes. Was going to do Round but opted out due to time and drive home.

Waterproof boots and gaiters would be helpful on both hikes.

Great quieter approach to these two relatively busy mountains. Cascade was hoppin as usual. Noonmark is a great hike and was totally dry. I spoke to a ranger and he had given the thumbs up on this hike to prevent trail damage.
