I picked up a T-shirt the other day at Target that is 85% Rayon and 15% polyester. It feels a lot like microfiber and was about $6.50. My question is whether rayon acts like polyester when wet or would it tend to absorb water like cotton? Would the shirt be good for hiking etc.?

Rayon maybe be synthetic.....

but rayon takes a loooooooooong time to dry. I don't know if it takes longer than cotton, but I do know that it is very heavy when it is wet. Another question that I do not know is whether rayon feels warm when it is wet. I also do not know if it has wicking capabilities?

I am interested in finding out what others have to say about rayon.
(My experience is with rayon camisoles that I hang dry.):D :D

Watch out! Sometimes rayon shrinks, sometimes it gets really uncomfortable when wet. You could test it out, get it wet, see what it is like. I haven't hiked in anything rayon, just had dress clothes made out of it.

Report on your experiment, if you try it! If it works, I'll be off to Target to get a shirt, too.
