I'm mildly surprised that the article didn't mention Seward's Day. This is an official state holiday in Alaska that falls on the last Monday in March; it commemorates the signing of the purchase treaty. There's a different holiday, Alaska Day, that is observed to commemorate the acquisition. It was a pleasant surprise to see them on the office work schedule for the first time while living in Anchorage.

I live in Florida, NY birthplace of Seward.
Although not a national holiday the village does celebrate Sewards birthday every year. The 3 or 4th grade school kids learn about Seward and peform a "Seward Skit". and the Main Street is closed and a street fair run all day.
