I posted a request for suggestions on camping in Monadnock state park last week. Did not realize camping is not allowed. Thanks to all who set me straight.

I have altered my plans...I am now going to backpack fri night, sat night and sun night somewhere in the whites (either carter, lafayette, pemi, etc.) Any suggestions. Also, I realize that the answer to this question will depend on where I go, but will I need snowshoes and/or crampons on the trip (schedule trip date April 16th). As I stated in my earlier post, the less snow the better.

I am sure I will have to evaluate my opinions as the time approaches.

If you plan on climbing any peaks, you'll almost definitely want snowshoes (it's still only mid-April after all). Crampons are possible depending on how steep / icy your route is.
