Drove in via the Burnt Mountain Rd approach using directions from two other trip reports. Each described the road ending at about 15 miles, but there's a lot of current logging going on in the area and the road continued though it for another mile or so. Unable to make sense of the prior trip reports given the drastic change of scenery, I drove clockwise around the mountain looking for what seems to be the lesser-used "standard" approach mentioned by Gene Daniell.

Explored Wiggle Brook Rd for awhile looking for a viable approach and finally spotted some flagging tape and the start of an obvious herd path .3 mile west of the mile 7 marker, a hundred or so feet before a washed out area on the left (heading west).

Followed this for a short way before losing it in the vegetation, then just continued on a somewhat SE bearing toward the summit. Mostly a fernwhack through easy, open woods (startled a huge bull moose in this section), then things got a bit thick as the terrain briefly steepened, but that didn't last long and the grade eased before getting to the summit.

A pretty simple hike: one hour up, slightly less down. #91/100
