South Twin and Galehead (Gale River & Twinway)
Date of Hike: Wed 12/16/2011
Trail Conditions:
Gale River Tr was well packed, crusty to ~2500', then 1-2" fresh snow to 3-5" higher w/ drifting after the jct w/ Garfield Ridge Tr. Lovely snow starting at ~3000'. Twinway was completely drifted in w/ 2-3' drifts.
At the hut, everything was completely blown in there and Frost Trail was invisible. I found it where it went between some spruce trees. Fresh snow on Frost w/ some drifting. I also found all sorts of out-structures associated w/ the hut and left tracks to those too

No one out today, so there is one set of frsh tracks all the way to both summits.
Special Equipment Required:
Wore snowshoes the entire way. Crampons not needed. Snowshoes needed on upper Gale River Tr, Frost, and Twinway due to drifted snow.
Comments:
Parked at Beaver Brk.
Quite windy on S. Twin. I did see some recent tracks on S Twin, so maybe someone came over from North Twin.
