Date of Hike: 6/29/2010
Trails: Bickford Brook, Blueberry Ridge, Summit Loop
Trail Conditions: Bickford is an old road bed most of the way - never got steep - easy footing and very well maintained - no blowdowns and dry despite the recent rains. Blueberry Ridge Trail - lots of PUDs and mud - some slippery ledge sections - couple of small blowdowns. We hiked this loop clockwise but recommend counterclockwise to go up the steep rough sections.
Special Equipment Required: Poles for the ledges and to pick through the muddy sections. For those bug intolerant - bugs were bad down low.
Comments: Breathtaking views from Speckled Mt. west and north. Could see layers of Mts. - Baldfaces, Carters, Presidential Range. Great viwes of Mahoosucs and northerly. Use loop trail for views from Blueberry. Good solitude hike.
First longer hike with Abby - a seven month old mixed breed rescue pup.
