Due to my having a bad head cold, me and three friends downgraded our plans and did this hike. We parked at the monument near the Irving station since when we tried to park in the "Trail Parking" lot one of the cars got stuck.
We barebooted to the summer trailhead, then put on snowshoes. The trail was well packed in many places, but higher up drifts and blown it in and I was breaking trail through mid-calf deep snow with my snowshoes.
We made the summit of Waumbek in 3hrs, despite my cold and our break on Starr King. We got back down in a little over 2hrs, again stopping on Starr King and finally getting some views. We met LRiz on our way down and a group of three as well (Sorry forget names fast).
Today I rested, tomorrow I'll get back out. DOUBLE BOW IS BACK!!!!
